The air traffic around Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon picked up pace, with two air ambulances arriving to transport patients to other hospitals within minutes of one another. (Above) Life Flight from Mobile arrives at the hospital landing zone. (at left) Life Star from Montgomery leaves from its makes-shift landing zone on the DHS practice field. The helicopter was routed to the alternate landing site because of the pending arrival of Life Flight. Hospital officials said that it was coincidence that caused the two helicopters to arrive at the hospital so close to one another.
Multiple patients with heart conditions required transport to other medical centers, they said.
