Newton “Newt” Mabrey Marler, Jr., 88, Algiers, LA, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Meadowcrest Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 1:30 PM at the Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey, LA. Mr. Marler is a USN officer retired. He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Barkei Marler; a daughter, Margaret Marler (John A.) Dubret; five grandchildren, Joseph Mabrey (Athena) Dubret, Catherine Dubret (Stephen) Strickland, Rebecca Dubret, Michelle Dubret, and Elizabeth Dubret; great-grandson, Stephen Strickland and a sister Sarah M. Stallings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Mabrey Marler and a

brother Robert L. Marler and a sister Florence M.
