It was quite obvious – judging by a fourth inning score of 18-0 – that Dothan Post 12 had come to Demopolis to play some ball.
Dothan racked up 22 runs on 24 hits Thursday night in their 22-0 slaughtering of Centreville Post 128 in Game 3 of the American Legion Senior State Tournament.
Anthony Germain led Post 12 on the hill as he went seven innings earning 10K’s, while giving up no runs on two hits with three walks. While Germain was busy bruising Post 128 with his pitching, Gregory Whigham (6-for-7) was knocking them out with hit hefty bat.
Whigham led Dothan with two doubles and four singles against Centreville Thursday night, which set a new tournament record for most hits.
Dothan earned two runs in the first and one run in the second before their 15-run fourth inning that signified who really belonged to be in this tournament. Dothan collected 15 runs of 11 hits in the fourth to take an 18-0 lead.
Dothan’s Clint Robinson, Patrick Reeves, Joseph Sowell, Derek Manuel, William Moyd and Timothy Hardy followed behind Whigham, each collecting two hits a piece.
Centreville pitcher Josh Pounds took the loss for Post 128, as he went four innings earning 3K’s, while giving up 15 runs on 14 hits with eight walks.
With the win, Dothan will look to meet up with West Alabama Post 29 in the winners bracket, which gets under way tonight at 7 p.m.
Centreville, now faced with elimination, will meet Athens Post 49 today at 4 p.m.
