MONTGOMERY – An attorney general’s investigator looking into alleged voter fraud in Greensboro was injured in a wreck Wednesday.
Danny Billingsly was on his way into the office Wednesday morning from his Wetumpka home when his vehicle struck debris in the road, according to Suzanne Webb, a spokesperson for Attorney General Troy King.
Billingsly suffered a broken arm, broken leg and other injuries and is being treated at Jackson Hospital, she said.
Billingsly was expected in Greensboro on Wednesday to begin a probe after a complaint was filed in connection with the Greensboro mayoral race, said Pam Chism, director of Friends of Hale County.
Chism has been active in fighting alleged voter fraud in the race.
Webb attributed the accident Tropical Storm Frances, that downed trees and scattered storm debris through the Montgomery area.
“It was Hurricane Frances that did this,” she said. “Our prayers are with him and his family.”
Chism said she expected other investigators would pick up the case in Billingsly’s absence.
