Frank Porter

Frank Porter, 73, of Epes passed at Hill Hospital in York, on Sept. 17, 2004. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Epes. The Rev. Jesse Benn is pastor, the Rev. Larry Yates will officiate and interment will follow in Miller Hill Cemetery with McInnis Mortuary of Livingston in charge of all arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 from 1-6 p.m. at the mortuary and an hour prior to service time at the church. McInnis Mortuary is in charge of all arrangements.

Robert Edwards

Moundville

Robert Edwards, of Moundville passed on Sept. 17, 2004 at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the St. Luke AME Church, Havana. The Rev. Zoe Michaels will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until time of service. Public viewing will be Friday from noon until 6 p.m. Agnew Funeral Home, Greensboro, is in charge of all arrangements.

Clarence Thomas

Sawyerville

Clarence Thomas, of Sawyerville, passed on Sept. 25, 2004 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. from the New Pentecostal Church, Greensboro, with the Elder Jimmy Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Sample Cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon until time of service. Public viewing will be Friday from noon until 6 p.m.

Willie Burks

Greensboro

Willie Burks, of Greensboro, passed on Sept. 19, 2004 at the Hale County Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Agnew Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday from noon until 6 p.m.

Julie Hudson

Sawyerville

Julie Hudson, 57, of Sawyerville, passed on Sept. 19, 2004 at the Hale County Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Sawyerville, with burial following at the Evans Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 – 11 a.m., one hour prior to service. The Rev. S.L. Cunningham, church pastor will officiate the ceremony.

Washington, Paige, and Rollins Mortuary, Greensboro is entrusted with all arrangements.

George Bennett

Greensboro

George Bennett, 78 of Greensboro, passed on Sept. 18, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at the Washington&Paige Mortuary Chapel, Greensboro, on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at noon. Burial will follow at the Sarah Christian Cemetery, Greensboro. Visitations will be held at the Washington&Paige Mortuary. The Rev. Freddie Robinson, pastor of Rising Star Baptist Church, Greensboro, will officiate the ceremony.

Washington&Paige is in charge of all arrangements.

Reese M. Holifield

Demopolis

Funeral services for Dr. Reese M. Holifield, age 76 of Demopolis, AL will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, September 26, 2004 at First United Methodist Church in Demopolis, AL with Dr. Art Luckie and Rev. Aaron Raulerson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery, Heiberger, AL.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Chapel.

Dr. Holifield died at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham suddenly, Wednesday, September 22, 2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse T. Holifield, and 3 brothers, Julian T. Holifield, Ellis Holifield, and Davee Holifield.

He leaves to cherish his most precious memories, a lovely wife, Angela N. Holifield of Demopolis, AL, 2 sons, Reese M. Holifield, Jr. of Demopolis, AL and Thomas C. Holifield (Cyndi) of Providence, AL., 4 daughters, Teresa (Dr. Robert Craddock) of Birmingham, AL., Nancy (Dr. Mark Prysi) of Naples, FL., Ashleigh and Emily Holifield, both of Demopolis, AL., 2 sisters, Louise Sims of Montgomery, AL. and Eloise Phelps (Ben) of Marion, AL., 2 brothers, Dozier Holifield (Kathryn) of Green Pond, AL. and Buford Holifield (Joanne) of Columbus, GA., and 7 grandchildren, Quenton Craddock, Christina Holifield, Josh Holifield, Max Craddock, Reesa Holifield, Sarah Prysi, and Brooke Prysi.

Pallbearers are Quenton Craddock, Maxwell Craddock, Mark Prysi, Dr. Bob Craddock, Greg Holifield, Mike Moore, Nathan Sims, and Kenny Holifield.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff of the Holifield Medical Clinic, Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital doctors and staff, Brookwood Medical Center doctors and staff, Dr. Judy Travis, Clarence King, Mike Cevasco, Wilbur Atkeison, E.P. Griffith, Jr., and William Collins.
