UWA ready for Homecoming

LIVINGSTON- A weeks worth of chicken wire and tissue paper have finally paid off for the students of the University of West Alabama. The Homecoming festivities for UWA started on Friday, October 8 and will continue on Saturday, October 9 as the “Hometown Heroes,” theme comes full circle for the City of Livingston.
Saturday will be full of activities for the students of UWA and the citizens of Livingston starting with breakfasts sponsored by two UWA colleges. The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ Breakfast will be held at the Moon House from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. and the College of Business Breakfast will be held in the Wise Conference Room in Wallace Hall from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m.
The National Alumni Association Meeting and Awards Presentation will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Bell Conference Center. Alumni Achievement Awards will be presented and new members will be inducted into the UWA Athletic Hall of Fame.
The Homecoming Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. in downtown Livingston. Area marching bands will appear with traditional floats. At 12 p.m., the Alumni Association invites all alumni and their guests to the Armory lawn for lunch.
After lunch, the UWA Tigers will take on the Braves of the University of West Georgia in football action. During the pre-game show, the University will honor local veterans and military personnel. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. and half-time festivities will feature the presentation of the Homecoming Court and entertainment by the Scarlet Band from Tiger Land.
Following the game, the day will draw to a close with a cocktail party sponsored by the UWA College of Liberal Arts beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Moon House.
