Livingston station won’t fit new truck

Though the Livingston Fire Department is happy to have a new 75-feet ladder/pumper truck on its way – it should arrive in the next three to four months – the department and the Livingston City Council now have a dilemma. The new truck will not fit into the existing station.

The council during its regular meeting Monday discussed the issue and approved a motion to increase the already approved amount of $44,500 for the truck to $93,500 for the truck and a new building to house it.

The new building will be 30 feet by 50 feet, and will be located across from the existing building. The new building will not only be large enough to house the new ladder truck, but will also have enough room to house an additional vehicle if needed.

Because the new building will not cost more than $50,000, no formal bidding is required.

The $93,500 that includes the truck and building will be financed over a period of seven years.
