It’s been featured on HGTV, A&E and now, Christmas on the River will be airing on The Food Network’s “All-American Christmas Festivals,” Nov. 28 at 8:30 p.m.

“This will draw national attention to Demopolis and to local cooks,” Alex Braswell, chairman of the Christmas on the River Committee, said.

The Network was in Demopolis last year during Christmas on the River, focusing primarily on the Alabama State BBQ Cookoff and the local Buttmasters cooking team.

“They focused on the cooking aspect, but they also filmed other parts of the Christmas on the River festivities,” Braswell said.

He said the response from the HGTV and A&E shows was overwhelming, and this show could only booster attendance in upcoming years.

“There is a one-year delay,” he said. “Folks who watched the HGTV show one year came the next year. We’ll see benefits from this next year.”

Attendance on average, Braswell said, is about 7,000 to 8,000.

“There have been years attendance was more than $10,000. About two years ago, it was really rainy and we probably had less than 1,500 show up. But overall, it averages about 7,000 to 8,000.

“I anticipate a great response from this program,” Braswell said. “I just want people to tune in and watch it.”
