What began as a lovely spring day turned tragic when a two-car accident on United States Highway 43 in Greene County left motorists with serious injuries.
The accident left one car a twisted mess and had officers investigating hours after the wreck occurred.
The accident occurred near Forkland at around 3 p.m. when a Honda and Chevrolet collided forcing one car into the ditch and leaving the other disabled on the roadside. One of the motorists was trapped in their automobile and had to be removed with the jaws of life. The condition of the drivers and passengers could not be confirmed Tuesday afternoon, but injuries were thought to be serious.
Two ambulances responded to the accident along with Alabama State Troopers and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the accident, specific injuries and parties involved could not be released to the media at presstime.
When contacted Alabama State Troopers said they were unable to release any information as the investigation was still being conducted. More information is expected to be released Wednesday.
