DEMOPOLIS-Tera Schroeder is not your typical student. The 12-year-old Demopolis Middle Schooler is known by teachers and administrators to be a well-rounded young lady who excels in the classroom and participates in a variety of extra curricular activities.
Last weekend, Schroeder added another distinction to her name. Saturday at the Birmingham Sheraton Schroeder was named Miss Pre Teen Alabama.
Schroeder competed with girls from all over the state, but in the end it was her name that was called.
Schroeder, while she was happy she won, the overall experience was rewarding.
“It was a lot of fun,” Schroeder said. “I made lots of friends and had a really good time.”
Schroeder said she had a lot of fun, but put in a lot of work too. Schroeder said the pageant coordinators kept the group in constant motion to make sure everything went off without a hitch.
“The schedule was back to back,” Schroeder said. “You are in your room for maybe an hour each day. It was a pretty packed schedule.”
Schroeder responded well to the hectic schedule and went on to win several other awards on her way to the pageant’s overall title. Schroeder also won Miss Personality, which was chosen by contestants, Most Promising Model, which was chosen by the judges, First Alternate in the Casual Wear Modeling contest and Fourth Alternate in the Spokesmodel Contest.
As winner of the miss Pre Teen Alabama pageant Schroeder will move on to participate in the National Miss America Pre Teen pageant in California. Part of her winnings from the Alabama competition include a $1,000 trip to Hollywood to compete in the national contest, which will take place Thanksgiving weekend.
Schroeder said the Alabama competition would be a memory she would treasure forever.
“I am glad I competed,” Schroeder said. “I made lots of good friends and had so much fun.”
