Holley Parten and Hannah Willis have known each other since kindergarten. They graduated from Marengo Academy this past spring together and are having a big art exhibition, outside of school, together.

The reception has been re-scheduled for Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the halls of the Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Chrissy Brooker, director of Public Relations, said the date was pushed back because of the predicted weather this weekend.

“We don’t know what the weather is going to do,” Brooker said. “So instead of having people come out in the rain, we postponed it.”

Both young women are looking forward to their showcase.

“I’m excited, but it seems kind of weird,” said Willis. “I’m used to having art shows at school.”

Parten, who has been participating in art shows since fourth grade, said she was very excited about the exhibit as well.

“I do a variety of paintings so, I am glad other people can look at what I put a lot of time into,” she said.

Both young women are attached to their works and don’t plan to sell them.

Although Willis expects most viewers will enjoy her works and the colors she uses, she said she wouldn’t sell any of them “unless it’s a big offer.”

Parten, on the other hand, is not as sure about the reactions her works may get.

“People have different styles, but I’m just showing mine,” Parten said. “I am very sentimental about my art work, so I won’t sell them. But, I have done reproductions for people in the past,”
