DEMOPOLIS-The annual SAV-A-LIFE yard sale was a great success thanks to the Demopolis community.
The event was held at the old Rosenbush Furniture building July 9th and 16th.
Kathryn Gardner, organizer of the yard sale, said this year’s event was “the most successful.”
Jewelery, clothes, computers, electronics, books and furniture filled the main floor of the Rosenbush building.
“It was amazing,” she said. “We had it set up like a department store. Rosenbush was perfect.”
Gardner said SAV-A-LIFE will definitely try to have the sale inside next year because it worked so much better.
This year SAV-A-LIFE didn’t begin to collect items until the middle of May as opposed to their earlier starting dates.
“People we’re still bringing items during the sale,” Gardner said. “People were buying stuff and taking it out the front and more things were coming in the back.”
The few items left from the event will be given to other local charities.
“We have a doll collection we will try to sell on eBay,” Gardner said.
Barbara Sessions, SAV-A-LIFE director, said the sale did very well this year and brought the organization very close to its goal.
“We want to thank the people who purchased from the yard sale to support the ministry,” Sessions said.
Gardner said the young church members worked hard to help set up for the event and the organization couldn’t have done it without them.
“The outpouring of volunteer support and work was phenomenal,” Sessions said. “We are so appreciative to all who contributed to the tremendous success of the yard sale.”
