MARENGO- Students and parents are invited to orientation and registration at Marengo High School on Thursday, August 11.

The event will last from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and all parents are asked to participate and be informed about the school’s educational program, goals and expectations.

According to Marengo principal George E. Green, the school has an orientation program every year.

“Normally there is a general assembly for grades K-12,” he said. “Then we break them up. The elementary students find their rooms and I keep the high school students to go over rules and regulations.”

Green said he plans to introduce the 10 new faculty members during the general assembly.

Students will also be able to pick up their class schedules and try a mini-schedule to get a taste of a usual school day.

Parents will get a chance to ask questions about necessary documents and other information important to them.

Refreshments will also be served.

Green will meet with teachers August 10th and hopes to be able to meet with new faculty August 8th before or after the county new teacher orientation.

He is also looking to hire two elementary or early childhood teachers.

New Spanish courses will also be added to the distance learning program taught at Sweetwater High School for all county students.

Although he is still searching for faculty, Green said he “might as well be ready because here they come.”

“The next day we’ll be going full blast,” he said.

All new students are asked to bring the original copy of their birth certificates, the blue immunization slip, and their social security card. If students are transferring from another school, please bring the name and telephone number of the school they transferred from.
