The Demopolis Lions Club will sell Boston Butt Barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 24 to raise funds for their charity work.
The Club helps support programs specific to the causes of vision conservation and diabetes. Lions Club President Kathi Wilson said they are concerned with diabetes because it is often connected with vision disorder.
“Mostly we are concerned with programs on the local and state level,” Wilson said. In the coming weeks, the Club plans to work with the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, she said.
The Club holds several fund-raisers throughout the year. Two of its annual fund-raisers are a spaghetti supper in the spring and a pancake breakfast in October.
“We hold other fund-raisers as the opportunities arise,” Wilson said.
Boston Butt tickets are on sale now for $20 each.
“We plan to cook 60 Butts, and we hope to have all 60 tickets sold in advance,” Wilson said.
The Boston Butts will be available for pick up on Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home parking lot on Highway 80 West.
