MAGNOLIA, AR- The University of West Alabama volleyball team looked to rebound after dropping a pair of matches on Friday, as the Tigers competed in day-two action of the Southern Arkansas Tournament on Saturday. UWA would get off to a good start, defeating Ouachita Baptist in five games (26-30, 23-30, 30-8, 30-18, 15-12), before falling to Southern Arkansas (27-30, 27-30, 21-30).

Rafaella Maranhao turned in a huge match versus OBU totaling 20 kills and 39 digs. Amanda Heaton added 18 kills and 12 digs, while freshman Allison Nail chipped in with 12 kills and 11 digs. Melanie Moffett added 29 digs and freshman setter Morgan Graffigna tallied 53 assists and 12 digs. Teresa Clements rounded out the top Tiger performers with 13 kills and four total blocks.

No statistics were available from the SAU match at press time. The statistics will be posted on the UWA athletic website (athletics.uwa.edu) as soon as they become available.

The Tigers move to 3-5 on the season and will be in action again on Wednesday when Judson College comes to Livingston for UWA’s home opener. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
