MARENGO COUNTY – Okay now turn around and wave to Christmas because it’s right around the corner.

Unfortunately there are many underprivileged children who will not receive the presents they want on December 25.

Thus the River City Bike Association, or RCBA, is taking up collections for the Toys for Tots programs in Marengo County until December 4.

“We teamed up with DemopolisLive.com this year,” Russell Gaddy, effort organizer and member of RCBA, said. “We usually do this by ourselves so this is the first year we’ve done a joint venture.”

This will be at least the eighth year RCBA has collected toys for Toys for Tots and organized the motorcycle ride.

Drop off locations across Linden and Demopolis have already collected more than 150 toys but members want to provide for as many children as possible.

“We are collecting any toy for any age group from any price range,” Gaddy said. “They will be given to First Christian Church and the ladies there will drop them off at the Marengo County DHR.”

According to Gaddy, on December 4 Marengo County bikers will gather at 2 p.m. at Parr’s Chevron and ride through town before dropping off the toys.

“It helps underprivileged children in Marengo County,” Gaddy said. “These children might not have a good Christmas otherwise.”
