Alagasco hosts community resource agencies

REGION-Alagasco’s Selma Division hosted a roundtable meeting of local community resource agencies recently. The purpose of the annual meeting is to exchange information on assisting people who are elderly, have low incomes or disabilities.

There were 13 agencies represented at the roundtable on Oct. 19. Among the local agencies participating were the Perry County Department of human Resources, Marengo County Department of Human Resources, Alabama Tombigbee Regional Council Area Agency on Aging. The American Red Cross, the Dallas Selma Community Action Agency of Marengo County and Perry County’s Project Share.

Mixon Russ, Alagasco’s Selma Division Manager, said the purpose of the meeting was to see how the company could help to better serve their customers.

“We take customer service seriously,” Russ said. “We want to make sure that we know what each community resource agency can do for our customers. We learn what they expect and want from us as a company and we try to find out how their particular agencies can assist our customers.”

Alagasco has been hosting the Roundtable meetings for 17 years. Each Alagasco division will host a similar meeting this year.

Jackie Phillips, of the American Red Cross said she found the meeting to be very productive.

“This was my first time and I loved the atmosphere,” Phillips said. “The networking portion of the meeting was helpful and the overall pool of information we gained was great.”

Alagasco, an Energen subsidiary, is the largest natural gas utility in the state of Alabama serving 460,000 customers throughout central Alabama.
