DEMOPOLIS-This Saturday the Rotary Cub will sponsor “Dress Up Like a Clown Day” in honor of the upcoming Carson&Barnes Circus. The event will allow children from around the to come to the city’s public square in their favorite clown gear for a fun day in the park.

Jan McDonald, a member of the Demopolis Rotary Club’s Circus Committee said there will also be a special treat for the children who show up dressed as clowns.

“Every child that shows up and dresses like a clown will get a certificate to get into the circus for free,” McDonald said. “The ones who have their certificate and wear their clown costume will get called into the center ring and they will get to go in with the clowns. One of the children will also receive free passes for their parents.”

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. McDonald said they expect a strong showing. The only information that will be needed for registration will be the child’s name and age and their parent or guardians name. Once they are registered they will be issued a number.

The circus itself will arrive next Wednesday at about 8 a.m. when they will begin setting up their tents with help from the elephants. Elephant rides and several other fun activities will also be offered prior to the shows. Two shows will be offered at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Tickets in advance will be 25 percent cheaper than at the door. Tickets purchased in advance will also give a certain amount of the sales to the Demopolis Rotary Club.
