Virginia Norman, who presented Perry with the award, said she was someone they could always depend on.

“Aggie is just an outstanding person,” Norman said. “I don’t know what I would do without her. She is not just my right hand, she is my left hand because when I ask her to do something I know I can depend on her. Aggie is an outstanding person.”

Norman said Perry takes on any task with a positive attitude.

“Aggie is the type of person that if you ask her to do something she does it with a grin,” Norman said. “Sometimes when we are asked to do something it can be tough, but Aggie is the type of person that will always get things done. She reaches out to everyone.”

Demopolis Mayor Cecil P. Williamson said she was proud of Perry and everyone who had chosen to join the club.

“It is always a treat for women to get together and this is a wonderful occasion for us to do just that,” Williamson said. “I commend each and every one of you who worked around your schedule to be here because this is a very special occasion.”

The award came as part of the organizations celebration of National Businesswoman’s Week. Martha Shirley, librarian for the University of West Alabama, said the award and the week were reminders of what the club stood for,

“The purpose of this club is to promote women in career development and education and any political issues that pertain to women,” Shirley said. “A big part of this is also networking and it is great for us to meet new friends. I am always meeting new friends.”

The group offers positive reinforcement to women who choose to brave into the world of business. The group also presents opportunities for women and men to achieve great things.

They offer three different scholarships for high school seniors, women who are not graduating seniors, but would like to go to school and career enhancement scholarships for training programs.
