Selma Guard unit returns from Iraq

The Alabama State Military Department announced today that the Selma based 122nd Corps Support Group will return to the U.S. Friday, Nov. 4, after serving a year in Iraq.

Approximately 110 members of the 122nd will return to Fort Benning, Ga. where they will out-process from active duty before returning to Alabama .

A Welcome Home Ceremony is planned for Friday at approximately 3 p.m. at Building 2411 at Benning’s Lawson Army Air Field.

The 122nd deployed to Iraq last year where it provided logistics support to U.S. and coalition forces supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The 122D is expected to return to Selma sometime next week.
