HALE COUNTY – In response to two unusual occurrences documented in the Hale County Sheriff’s Department reports, Sheriff Larry Johnson took time to assure residents that the cases are being investigated.
According to reports, first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree domestic assault was reported in Akron Nov. 13, but the issue is nothing new to Hale County authorities.
“This has been an ongoing problem with the couple involved,” Johnson said. “They are in the process of a divorce and this just stems from that.”
Reports also cited a second-degree rape in Sawyerville only four days later on Nov. 17.
“This case is still under investigation,” Johnson said. “But it does involve a minor.”
More information is forthcoming, the sheriff said, and The Times will continue to follow the story.
