DEMOPOLIS – A car accident in July left 8-year-old Cody Webb with injuries so dire that his doctors thought his recovery would take “a miracle.”

Now, almost five months later, Cody still has a scar on his neck where surgeons repaired his severed windpipe. There are still two dots visible where a halo neck-brace steadied his head to protect a spine that was severed in two places.

But his warm smile and sparkling blue eyes

are a testament to how far Cody’s come since the accident. In this season of thanksgiving, the Webb’s wanted to tell the community how much they appreciated it.

The Webb children made a card of thanks for the community after Cody was released from the hospital. He signed the front of the card while still in the hospital, his mother, Jami Webb, said.

On the card, Cody wrote, “God is bigger than us. God is with us.” The Webbs said the prayers of the Demopolis and Gallion communities “were a major factor in his survival.”

Though Cody’s ordeal is not over, his family said, the prayers of their communities and friends have made the road easier.
