The West Alabama Prep varsity boys’ team moved back over the .500 mark with an easy 47-28 home victory Thursday night over the Central Christian Warriors.

The Titans began the season 2-1 before falling to 2-3, but with back-to-back wins over Marion Acad. and Central have now improved to 4-3 entering Friday night’s rematch with the Sumter Acad. Eagles.

WAP was in total control Thursday against a young and overmatched Central team, taking a 13-0 lead behind three consecutive three-pointers by senior Jake Rich. The Titans held the Warriors without a point until a free throw with 3:45 left on the first quarter clock and did not allow a made field goal until the 3:30 mark of the second quarter.

With the game in hand, the Titan starters saw little playing time in the second half. WAP led 42-24 after three quarters before winning by 19.

Kennedy’s 13 points led the Titans while Rich joined him in double figures with 11. Weaver finished with 6, followed by Steven Cockreham with 5, Gene Samuels with 4, John Paul McPherson with 3, Daniel Logan and Mark Geiger with 2, and Jordan Yelverton with 1.
