Two months ago, down town Demopolis welcomed a new business in Mrs. Beavers Caf/ on North Strawberry Street.

Since their grand opening, curious and hungry customers have frequented the new restaurant and given it rave reviews.

Yolanda Woods, who is a jack-of-all-trades at the restaurant, said they see new customers every day.

“It has been busy,” Woods said. “We have had a good response and we have still had people coming in to tell us they just found out we were open.”

The restaurant, which was a concept created by owner and Demopolis native Will Moore, provides a quiet atmosphere for people to enjoy traditional soups and sandwiches.

“It is basically like a soup and sandwich shop,” Woods said. “We have delicious homemade soup, we have a house soup and we have lots of other things like turkey hoagies.”

In addition to soups and hoagies, the restaurant offers grilled ham and cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers, hamburger steaks with two sides and catfish sandwiches.

Though Mrs. Beavers offers a full menu already, Woods said, they hope to offer even more items eventually. Woods said they would look at their customer base and adjust the menu accordingly.

“We look forward to expanding the menu,” Woods said. “We will look at that more as time goes by.”

So far, in the caf/’s early stages, Woods said they have received lots of positive feedback. She said all their customers have left full and happy.

One of the favorites, Woods said, has been a Southern tradition served on the menu as something extra.

“We have gotten some good compliments,” Woods said. “Especially about our barbecue. We call it “oink on a bun.”

The friendly, hometown customer base has made the restaurant a fun place to work, Woods said.

“Things have been going really well,” Woods said. “Things have been great and the customers have been really friendly.”

Mrs. Beavers is open daily for lunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The caf/’s also opens on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
