Last Friday, Greensboro Police made their second drug bust of the week after officers found large amounts of illegal substances in a home located at 17490 Alabama Highway 25.
“We already had a search warrant because we had been watching them,” Greensboro Chief Claude Hamilton said. “At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, we went into the home and found the two suspects inside.”
It was at that moment Dedrick Warren, 31, and Gloria Faye Harris, 27, were arrested on charges of trafficking cocaine, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“In the living room adjacent to the room they were sitting in, we found a bag with the drugs inside and, sitting next to that was a red shoebox with money inside,” Hamilton said.
Police recovered approximately five ounces of cocaine worth an estimated street value of
During the search, police also confiscated a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun, a 30-06 Remington shotgun, two walkie-talkies, and scales used to weigh drug portions.
“These two have been in and out of the system for the past seven or eight years with situations having to do with drugs,” he said.
Smaller amounts of illegal substances were also found in the home next door at 17492 Alabama Highway 25, Hamilton said, but no one was arrested at that residence.
“We are going to make two more arrests on a later date,” Hamilton added. “I will continue the war on drugs no matter where my career goes. Whether I am police chief or sheriff, I am not going to stop.”
