Darren Anderson, a youth coach and organizer of this year’s opening day ceremonies, said there would be plenty for the young people to do in addition to playing ball.

“It is just a fun day for the kids,” Anderson said. “We have some bouncers up there and some radar stations and an inflatable slide.”

The purpose of Saturday’s celebration, Anderson said, was two fold. First and foremost, he said, they want everyone to have a good time. But, at the same time, they will use profits from concessions and other sales to improve facilities and upgrade the league even more.

“We’re just trying to raise money for the league,” Anderson said. “This is just a great way for the kids to have fun and raise money.”

The last game of the day is set for 3 p.m.

The first game of the day, at 10 a.m. will have Bank Trust taking on Omni. At the same time, Sellers will take on Robinson Banking Company and Pace will take on Cemex. During the same period, Xerox, MTPS and the Lions also play.

At 11 a.m., Sumter takes on Anderson, Collins Communications takes on Wallace Woods and Hudgens Insurance takes on Rowley.

At noon, Linden Lumber takes on Omni, Sellers takes on F&F Drugs and Athlete’s Foot faces McDonalds. At 12:30, Tutt Real Estate takes on Comco. At 1 p.m., Sumter takes on Traeger and Fleming Photography meets Fitz-Gerald Perret.

The 2 p.m. slot squares Linden Lumber vs. Bank Trust and Windham vs. Mason and Gardner.

Games wrap up at 3 p.m. with Anderson taking on Traeger.
