Demopolis 7-8 All-Stars win sub-district championship

Livingston- Wow, what a magical finish to this game between the Demopolis 7-8 year old All-Stars and the Linden All-Stars. Linden jumped out to a huge lead and then slowly but surely Demopolis started chipping away at it.

The stage was set for these two teams to do battle for the Sub-District Championship and the right to move on to Marbury today and face a team from the northern district.

Both of these teams had remarkable runs through the tournament and all it came down to this game Demopolis vs. Linden – win or go home for the Demopolis team.

In the first inning, Linden put on a hitting clinic plating eight big runs to take a commanding lead. Linden hit nine singles, one triple, and one double in the first.

Linden had the hitting machine running early in the game with pretty much everyone getting at least one hit in the first inning.

The bottom-half of the first saw Demopolis put five on the board closing the Linden lead to only three runs (8-5).

Thanks to the bats of Drew Jones, Luke Yeleverton, Recus Lawson, and Jacob Rodrigues Demopolis was able to close the gap in the first inning.

Demopolis had four doubles and three singles in the bottom of the first. Everyone of these players were hitting the ball hard all night long. Linden came back out in the second inning and cranked out four more runs to extend their lead in the ballgame to (12-5).

Demopolis’ bottom-half of the second inning saw them plate just one run to bring the Linden lead a little closer (12-6).

There were more big hits in this inning from Cal Logan and Colton Hensley.

Linden’s top of the third inning was not as productive as the first two innings as they only managed one single in the inning.

Linden was still winning (12-6) in the third as the Demopolis hitters came to bat.

This was the inning that changed the ballgame for Demopolis, as they plated five runs to close the gap to only one run. They managed to bangout six singles and four doubles in the third inning.

Linden’s fourth inning saw them score one more run bringing the total to (13-11). Demopolis fourth saw Rodrigues blast a two rbi double tying the game at (13-13).

Linden scored one run in the fifth inning bringing the lead to (14-13). Demopolis’ Adam Seller hit an rbi triple to tie the game at (14-14).

Mark Joseph Johnson hit an rbi double to give Demopolis the lead (14-15) and they would add one more to win (14-16).
