Those wanting to help the Evan Spence family need to have some quick reflexes. Inside of the Demopolis High gym on July 15 at 6 p.m., a benefit auction is slated. The proceeds of the event will go to help the Spence family with medical expenses.

According to a letter that has been sent out to local business people by Jan Baty, publicity chairperson of the auction, the proceeds of the auction are going to help offset the medical expenses that the Spence family will incur in the next year.

“The response has been really good,” said Baty. “A lot of people have donated things. But we still need more things to be donated for this event.”

The auction committee is looking for anything that can be auctioned off. The items range from antiques to new furniture.

“We’re also wanting baked goods that can be auctioned off,” said Baty.

Kim McNeil will serve as the auctioneer for the night’s event that will also have entertainment.

Donations and contributions for the benefit auction can be made through July 2. For more information about the event or to make a donation or contribution, contact 289-5570.

Trust funds have also been set up at Robertson Bank and Trust.
