Butane turns red hot

After knocking off Greene County Generating, ealier this week Marengo Butane earned the right to face the number one seed, Linden Stockyard.
Linden Stockyard finished the regular season 9-1 and looked to finish off the league for the championship, but not before Marengo Butane had something to say about it.
In the top of the first inning, Marengo Butane jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to three singles from Trace Stenz, Chase Smyly, and Cody McGhee.
Linden Stockyard also helped Marengo Butane in the top of the first inning with three errors.
Butane pitcher Smyly kept the Stockyard batters on thier heels all night or at least until the fourth inning. His pitching helped the Butane bats keep singing.
In the second inning, Butane was able to add three more runs pushing the lead to 6-0 off of three more singles from Stenz, Smyly, and Chris Sammons.
Stockyard also drew a blank in the second inning from the strong pitching.
Butane would add another run in the third inning after Michael Martin reached on base from a walk and would later score on an error.
Stockyard would finally plate a run making the game 7-1 in the fourth inning.
Matthew Wallace and Trey Oates would have singles and Wallace would later score.
The Butane fifth and sixth inning is were they really caught fire and put some runs on the board.
John Carlton almost took the offering over the left field fence, but instead settled for a ground rule double.
Rave Hale also hit a double that would score Carlton making the score 8-1. Martin, Justin Harris, and Stenz would all single in the fifth inning and would all score pushing the lead to 11-1.
Stockyard needed some players to step up in the bottom of the fifth inning are they would fall victim to the ten run rule.
They would score two runs thanks to the hitting from Weldon Fultz, Jessie Morgan, and Wallace. They all hit singles and two of them scored cutting the lead back down to single digits 11-3.
The Butane sixth inning was very special as they scored pretty much at will plating six runs and strething the lead to 17-3.
Carlton once again lead off the inning strong with a single, which was followed up by
a double from Martin scoring one run.
Two walks and a single by Harris scored two more runs for Marengo Butane. Stenz would add another rbi single in the sixth inning.
Stockyard would score one more run in the sixth inning, but utlimatly fell to Marengo Butane 17-4 in six innings.
With this win for Marengo Butane, which is their third win in a row, they pretty much have the driver’s seat in the Babe Ruth League Championship Tournament.
Stockyard on the other hand, now falls to the losers bracket, but this tournament being double elimination they still have a great chance.
There is still plenty of baseball let to be played over the next few days and its still anyone’s ballgame, and remember its not over til the fat lady signs.
Gibbs&Sellers played New Era Cap Company in the second game of the double header, but no score was reported before deadline.
