Tiffany Whitten and Denise Cannon are sisters who always played beauty salon with their Barbie dolls as young girls. But now that they are women, and the two don’t just play beauty salon, they live it.

Along with Anita Rushing and Ozzy Reynolds, the four make up the staff at Demopolis’ newest beauty salon, Hair Razors.

With warm tones and soft lighting, the former furniture store has transformed into what Whitten calls a “very homey” place to go through the beautification process.

Although the salon just opened a week ago, the ladies are not having any trouble building a clientele since they were already known for their previous work in other local beauty shops.

Together they have more than 60 years of cosmetology under their belts and all four are licensed cosmetologist.

“Anita and Denise both have more than 20 years of experience. Ozzy has is right under 10 years and I have almost 13,” Whitten said. “We’re like a family we just click together. We have an awesome relationship and we just take care of eachother.”

Even though all the ladies were born and raised in West Alabama, Whitten left the area for approximately five years before retuning to her hometown where she started a salon for the second time.

“I had a salon before, but I closed it when I left,” she said. “I love being back here. We are all hometown folks and this is where our roots are.”

As of right now, the ladies spend the majority of their time with customers of the first floor of the freshly renovated building. However, the crew is setting up the second floor in preparation for two tanning beds, massages, facials and body waxing in a “very private room,” Whitten giggled.

And even though a well-decorated, friendly family atmosphere is always good, customers will be even happier with the reasonable prices at Hair Razors where walk-ins are always welcome.

The average cut and style starts at $25 and highlight prices vary depending on hair length, the amount of color and the color mixture, but start at approximately $30 for the average chunky color.

“You can get out of here looking great for under $100 and we’re worth it. It’s worth it just to come, sit and talk to us,” she laughed. “We’re the best ever and we’re humble but skilled.”
