Shots fired: Two injured in shooting

Two Demopolis residents are undergoing treatment for gunshot wounds at Tuscaloosa’s DCH Medical Center as the result of a Thursday morning shooting.
According to police reports Demopolis Police officers arrived at approximately 10 a.m. to the scene at 1200 East Pettus Street where a 45-year-old male and a 52-year-old female had been shot as a result of what officials believe began as a disagreement.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that both victims received gunshot wounds as a results of a domestic altercation,” Demopolis police chief Jeff Manuel said in a press release.
Responding officers were told the male victim was immediately transported to the Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital while the female was taken in an ambulance to the same destination.
Although both victims were initially treated at Demopolis’ BWWMH, they were transported by helicopter to the DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for further treatment.
Details of the injuries were unavailable at time of press, however Manuel said the case is still under investigation.
