The start of the 2006 Alabama Independent School Association football season begins on Aug. 25, but the West Alabama Preparatory School Titans find themselves only 50 percent ready.
“We’re not there yet,” said first year coach Pierre Goode.
“We will see where we are Friday.”
WAP is set to scrimmage Warrior Academy at 7 p.m. in a jamboree at WAP.
The Titans, who will be looking for their first win in two years, are returning 10 of their 21 players.
Four of them are seniors, with three slated to start.
“We have some athletes with a lot of potential,” added Goode.
A hopeful Goode vows to end the winless seasons.
He says that finishing in the top four of the region will get his team to the playoff.
Goode’s Titans open the season against a very tough Shelby Academy Raider squad at home on Aug. 25. The Raiders were eliminated in the semi-finals of the playoffs last season. Ready or not for the Titans, their season will unofficially start this weekend.
The Jamboree against Eutaw’s Warrior Academy will kickoff at 7 p.m.
