City of Linden awarded grant for new city Web site
LINDEN &045; The Linden City Council was notified that city has received a grant award from The University of West Alabama for $20,000 at its meeting yesterday.
The grant was awarded by the Small Business Development Center at the business school of the university. Linden’s proposal for the grant was one of the seven out of 17 tuned in by different cites accepted.
Gates, who drafted the proposal set to the university, said that the business school’s project will work to produce a Web site for the city, draw up a strategic plan for the downtown business district in Linden to present to the council and look at ways to incorporate the bypass district without taking away from the downtown area.
The Linden Police Department Chief Jeff Laduron also spoke to the council at the meeting. He showed the group one of the tasers that the department has just purchased and trained officers to use.
Laduron said that teach officer that is certified to carry the tasers had to be hit by them as part of their training.
