Concern about counselor

LNDEN &045; A parent expressed concerns at the Linden Board of Education meeting yesterday when the floor was opened to the public.
Carl Davis expressed concerns about the actions of a councilor at Linden High School as he addressed board members. Davis said that he thought some of the actions of the councilor were inappropriate and harmful to student’s prospects of furthering their education.
In an interview following the meeting, Jones said that there are no such problems occurring at the school. He said that Davis is misinformed about the situation.
Davis requested the board look into the actions of the councilor and see if they were inappropriate. He asked the board if there would be further discussion of the matter.
Board Chairwoman Joyce Yeager said that the board members would discuss the situation but that it would not necessarily be on the agenda for the next meeting.
Davis also expressed concern in white teachers of the school system sending their children to private schools rather than utilizing the public schools, which employed them.
In other business:
4approved the financial reports for September and October.
4Superintendent Dr. Walter Davis presented board members a copy of the Superintendents’ Funding Priorities. The priorities will be presented to the Alabama Legislature on behalf of the superintendents of the state.
