Hatch takes third in tourney

FRANCIS MARION &045; The R.C. Hatch Bobcats (4-1) took third place in the Francis Marion Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday night with a 55-37 win over the Francis Marion High School Rams.

Hatch won the opening tip-off and immediately put two points on the board.

They went on an 8-0 run and never looked back, leading the entire game.

Travis Moore hit a three-point basket to put the Rams score at five.

Junior Frankie Sullivan Jr. answered with a triple of his own and the Bobcats pulled out to a thirteen-point lead to end the first.

The Rams couldn’t get their momentum going, scoring only four points in the second period.

At the half, the Bobcats were up eighteen points over the Rams, 27-9.

It wasn’t until the third period that Edward Hinkle was able to put the Rams points in double digits.

However, with back-to-back three pointers from Sullivan, the Bobcats were up twenty-two points going into the final period of the game.

The Rams went on an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter, finally getting their momentum going, but their efforts were in vain.

The Bobcats never quit playing and despite the fact that they were outscored in the fourth, they still came out on top.

The Bobcats leading scorer was Sullivan with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

He was also named to the All Tournament Team.

Calvin Pope followed with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Justin Johnson led the Rams with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Edward Hinkle followed with 9 points and 7 rebounds and was named to the All Tournament Team.

R. C. Hatch will take on Francis Marion again on Friday in Uniontown.
