Lady Tigers rip Clarke County

GROVE HILL &045; The Demopolis Lady Tigers are right on target with their game plan for the season. Run, run, run and play defense and run some more. They almost ran the Clarke County Lady Bulldogs out of their own gym, as they trounced Clarke County 57-37.

The Demopolis defense created opportunities for easy baskets in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers poured in 23 points in the first quarter, while holding the Lady &8216;Dawgs’ to 10.

Demopolis built a 20-point advantage early in the second quarter. Coach Pittman played a total of 10 players in the first half, nine of them got into the scoring column. They stretched their lead to 41-18 at the half.

The Lady Tigers were a little sluggish in the third quarter. Turnovers caused fewer opportunities for field goals. Clarke County was only able to get as close as 15 points with 1:45 left in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers coasted the rest of the way to get the 57-37 win.

Jasmine Simmons topped all scorers with 18 points. Alechia Arnold added 10 points. Jocelyn Lawson chipped in eight points off the bench.

The Lady Tigers record improves to 2-0 for the young season.

Their next game is December 8 when they travel to Camden for their first area contest of the season against Wilcox Central.
