What does your organization do?
We provide nursing and therapy services for Medicare patients in their homes. Our patients need to be ages 21 or older. That way Medicare will pay for their services for them. Other insurance it depends on their contract to what they will pay.
Is it a hospice service?
Home health is geared toward rehabilitating those patients and keeping them in their homes for as long as possible so that they can lead an independent quality life.
What do you do for the organization and how long have you been with them?
I am an account executive. I have been with Amedisys Home Health for three years.
What are some of your highlights from working there?
Meeting the public and educating them on the benefits is a major highlight. We try to keep our patients out of the hospital and out of the emergency room. That is our goal. So I get satisfaction by seeing our goals actually happen.
What is the declaration that your organization has helped get the Demopolis Mayor Cecil Williamson to sign?
November is National Homecare Month and the mayor signed a bill to localize that. It is a way for Amedisys Home Health to bring to the attention of the community that there is homecare available to the local public.
What are you proud of outside of your chosen profession?
I am proud to own my own business. My husband, Ray, and I own Napoleon&8217;s Restaurant in the bottom to the Demopolis Inn and I am quite proud of that. I am also proud of my four children, Morgan who is 11, Kathlene who is nine, Natalie who is 7 and Alexander who is 5. We are members of Gallion Baptist Church.
