Pearline Watters Boykin
Mrs. Pearline Watters Boykin, age 79 of Demopolis, Ala., passed away on Oct. 16, 2006, in Demopolis. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at New Morning Star Baptist Church, Demopolis, Alabama. Rev. Willie Williams, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Demopolis, Alabama. The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 12:00 Noon. Public viewing will be held Friday from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pearline was born on July 28, 1927, to Agnew and Viola Crenshaw Watters in Lavaca, Alabama. She resided in Demopolis since early childhood. She was a 1943 graduate of U.S. Jones High School. In 1947 she was united in holy matrimony to Louis Boykin, Sr. She spent her life as a professional homemaker and raised three sets of children including her own. Pearline always had a kind word, wisdom to share, and love for all people. She touched the lives of all who knew her. For over fifty years, she was a faithful member of New Morning Star Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her beloved son, Louis Boykin, Jr., son-in-law, Joseph Gracie, four brothers, Louis, Glen, Billy&Rolax Watters, three sisters Annie Henderson, Zeola Vines,&Lena Morris Watters; Survivors include three devoted children, Pearlie Jackson, Richard (Janice) Boykin&Mary B. Gracie, all of Demopolis, Alabama. One brother, Richard A. Watters, Detroit, MI; two sisters, Rosie Lee (Walter) Russell, Detroit, MI.&Sarah (Clarence) Gilbert, East Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Gracie, Virginia Beach, VA, Shimeka (James) Calhoun II, Adamsville, AL, Timothy (Annette) Jackson, Newton, MS, Tara (Waymond) Williams&Patricia (Keith) Hayes, both of Montgomery, AL, Maurice Boykin, Kileen, TX, Vonnetta Gracie&Ashley Boykin, both of Demopolis, AL; thirteen (13) great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law&one brother-in-law, including special ones, Carrie Watters, Demopolis, AL,&Rev. Matthew (Ora) Boykin, Harvey, IL; She is also survived by the beloved children whom she nurtured and helped raise and their families: Hannah (John) Lavey, Nashville, TN, Sarah Chandler (Luke) Hallmark, Demopolis, AL, John (Ashley) Turner, Birmingham, AL&Emily Collins Turner, San Francisco, CA, Martha&Joe Turner& Gwyn Turner of Demopolis, AL, Shelley (Kevin) O&8217;Hara, Longwood, FL.&Hubbard (Joy) Harvey, Birmingham, AL.&six other special grandchildren; three devoted friends, Lula D. Waters, Sarah Miles&Inez Branch, all of Demopolis, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
