Roebuck Landing to hold first parade

ROEBUCK LANDING &045; There will be a Christmas parade held by the Roebuck Landing community tonight.
The first annual parade is slated to start at 7 p.m. Reggie Lancaster, one of the coordinators of the parade said that the tight knit river community of Roebuck Landing wanted to have a get together and that this would be the perfect opportunity.
Lancaster said there is a plethora of entries in the parade and that they cover a broad spectrum.
Lancaster said that there will also be duck gumbo at the parade provided by Ron Hickinbotham for those in attendance to enjoy. Hickinbotham said that he will make 15 to 20 gallons of gumbo to distribute at the parade.
Hickinbotham said that he will start the gumbo about 5 p.m. and it will be distributed while it lasts to anyone that wants some.
Lancaster said that the parade will start at 7 p.m. under the bridge in Roebuck Landing and will run in front of Roebuck Landing Store that will be open for the event. He said that is will go to Finches Ferry Park and turn around.
Lancaster said that since this is the parade’s first year he doesn’t quite know what to expect but said that he hopes it goes well.
