Second council seat vacated

GREENSBORO &045; City Council member Janice Jameson resigned her position on the council after being arrested Friday.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department served a warrant on Jameson Friday in relation an investigating run by the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
Lt. Tom Anderson of the Tuscaloosa Police Department said that Jameson was arrested on warrants involving fraudulent use of a credit card and for possession of a forged instrument.
Jameson’s resignation now leaves two empty seats on the city council. The remaining council members and Hill will chose replacements for the vacant positions.
Hill said that individuals have already expressed interest in filling the spots and a number have begun throwing their hats out for the appointments. Hill said that a clean record will be crucial in the search for the new board members.
Hill said that the council will also look for people that want to represent their constituents and aren’t interested in furthering their own personal agendas. She said that the caliber of individual they are looking to appoint will be a role model in the community.
She said that the children of the community need more examples of good leadership in area. She said that she also hopes that the seats will be filled as soon as possible.
Hill said that they are checking the background of people that have shown interest in the positions and that they need to get those back before a decision can be made.
