A 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was recovered by Greene County deputies last Thursday – unfortunately for the owner, it was no longer in driving conditions.
David Lewis of Eutaw reported his vehicle missing sometime in April, but Greene Bounty Sheriff Johnny Isaac said the car just turned up last week in the Springfield community, after it had been set on fire.
“I’ve been up that way a few times since he reported it missing, but I hadn’t seen it,” Isaac said. “Apparently whoever took it drove it around for a few days then brought it there where they burned it.”
By the time deputies found the vehicle, it was “totally burned,” Isaac said.
According to the owner, the approximate value of the car was $28,000 before it was damaged.
