Top BFL qualifiers fish today

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Six qualifiers have emerged from the pack of 129 bass fishermen from each of the Boater&8217;s Division and Co-Angler&8217;s Division of the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Championship.

The big prize the fishermen are vying for is a new Chevy truck and a Ranger 519VX powered by Evinrude or Yamaha, which goes to the first place finisher in the Boater&8217;s Division. The top finisher in the Co-Angler&8217;s Division will win a Ranger 519VX powered by Evinrude or Yamaha.

The qualifiers for yesterday&8217;s run were Val Osinski of Pompano Beach, Fla., with a two day weigh-in total of 19lbs-11oz; Randall Tharp, Gardendale, 19lbs-5oz; Jimmy Williams, Thomaston, 17lbs-12oz; Brad McCulley, Batesville, Miss., 17lbs-7oz; Bryan Gregory, Fort Payne, 17lbs, and Ronald L. Yurko, East Point, Fl, 16lbs, all of the Boater&8217;s Division.

In the Co-Angler&8217;s Division the top six were Glen Mire of Jackson, Miss., 12lbs-1oz; Mark Pirkle, Cleveland, Tenn., 11lbs-15oz; William Feyh, Brandon, Miss., 11lbs-8oz; Jason Ezell, Lucedale, Miss., 10lbs-15oz; Brandon Bolton, West Point, Miss., 9lbs-6oz, and Lance Graves, Raymond, Miss., 9lbs.

All of these qualifiers will also advance and compete in the $1 million no-entry-fee 2007 All-American Championship presented by Chevy. This event will be held in the first week of June on the Ohio River. They will fish for as much as $140,000 in the Boater&8217;s Division and $70,000 in the Co-Anglers Division.

There were also cash prizes that went to the seventh through 24th place finishers in each division. The cash ranged in the Boater&8217;s Division was from $900 for the seventh place finisher to $400 to the 24th place finisher. The Co-Angler&8217;s Division ranged from $450 for the seventh place finisher to

$200 for the 24th place finisher.

The weigh-in for today&8217;s fishing to determine who wins the top prize will be held on the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4 p.m.
