DEMOPOLIS – Brian W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital will start running a bimonthly program featuring different speakers on health concerning women.

Yesterday, the guest speaker was Dr. Tony Tropeano, and his message was on osteoporosis and bone fractures.

Being the new doctor in town has been an experience for Dr. Tropeano.

“Demopolis is a great, great small town. Everybody’s been really nice and helpful. Being the new doctor in town is fun. Everyone is coming up to talk, introduce himself or herself and say hello. It’s been a great experience,” said Tropeano.

With more people like Tropeano coming into the area, patients will not have to travel out of town to see doctors.

“The biggest contribution I hope to make is to be able to take care of people in this area so they don’t have to feel like they have to go to bigger cities. I hope to be able to do as good a job as anyone has done in this area,” Tropeano said.

Tropeano is impressed with the progress that has been made to the hospital.

“The hospital is doing a great job. Mike Marshall has got the hospital going in the right direction. Don Sprewell has also done a great job. I haven’t done any surgeries yet to know how he will work with my patients, but I’ve heard nothing but good news on his work. He uses the same rehab protocols that I use,” Tropeano said.
