Wilcox Central wins tourney

FRANCIS MARION &045;With an easy win over the Greene County Tigers, the Wilcox Central High School Jaguars won the Championship game in the Francs Marion Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday night.
During the first period of the game it seemed that the Tigers were going to put up a fight for the tournament win.
The led the entire first period however, the Jaguars went on a 7-0 run and Trevell Coleman hit a three point basket at the buzzer to put the Jaguars up 11-10 going into the second period.
The Tigers put one point on the board during the second period while the Jaguars increased their lead to thirteen.
They were ahead at the half, 24-11.
Coach Dukes put his second team in the several times but despite this the Tigers were unable to cut into the lead.
They out scored the Jaguars by two points in the third but the Jaguars lead never wavered.
At the end of the third period the Jaguars held a comfortable 30-19 lead over the Tigers.
The Jaguars put fifteen points on the board during the fourth period holding the Tigers to just four.
Wilcox came out on top 45-23.
Trevell Coleman led the Jaguars with 14 points and 2 rebounds.
Stephfon Butler followed with10 points. Cortez Irby added 9 points and 6 rebounds and was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player.
Alquan Mendenhall added 6 points and 3 rebounds and was named to the All Tournament Team.
Greene County was lead by Aundre Woods who had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Wilcox Central will take on Dallas County at home on Friday.
