Local University of Alabama football fans welcome the news that Nick Saban will the new head coach of the program after leaving the Miami Dolphins.

After denying that he was coming in previous press conferences Saban got on the universities private jet yesterday and flew to Tuscaloosa. Dolphin owner Wayne Huizenga said in a press conference later that Saban had left his job as the head coach of the Dolphins.

The news comes as a relief to many Alabama fans, who have been worrying about the upcoming recruiting season and the lack of a head coach. Ronny Snellgrove, and Alabama football season ticket holder, said he feels that the team got the right coach.

During his college coaching career at Toledo, Michigan State and Louisiana State University Saban gained a reputation as a coach that ran his program the way he wanted. Marengo County Auburn Club President Luke Hallmark said he thinks Saban will continue to do that at Alabama.

Saban is 106-59-1 as a head coach during his 13 seasons in college football but his National Football League with the Dolphins wasn’t quite as impressive. Saban managed to end his NFL coaching career around 50 percent, but many fans feel that the NFL record doesn’t mean much to his college coaching potential.

Alabama fans all agreed that they felt Saban would be an improvement over previous coach, Mike Shula. Hallmark said that he felt Shula had laid the groundwork after Alabama’s probation but wasn’t innovative enough to be a great coach.
