William Howard Windham

LINDEN &045; William Howard Windham, 58 of Linden died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Daniel Gandy and the Rev. Micah Gandy officiating. Burial was held at New Octagon Cemetery in Linden.

Windham was born on Oct. 7, 1948 in Alexander City. He was retired from Georgia Pacific where he worked as a machine tender and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Windham of Linden; his mother and step-father, Helen Cleary and Jack Cleary of Butler; daughter, Kristin Windham of Linden; son, Jon Windham of Linden; sister, Janice Bailey of Butler; brothers, Al Windham of Demopolis and John Windham of Butler and two grandchildren.

His father, James Windham and brother, David Windham, preceded him in death.

Active pallbearers were: Tyler Windham, Cory Windham, Tait Windham, Henry Vick, George Lewis, Tony Lewis, Billy Lewis and Adam Lewis.

O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Linden was in charge of the arrangements.

Johnnie Lee May Quinney

LINDEN &045; Johnnie Lee May Quinney, 79, of Linden died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden. Funeral services were held at Providence Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at with the Rev. Fred Freeman officiating. Burial was at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Gallion.

She worked many years for Dr. Gerald Williams at Marengo Nursing Home as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Gallion and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW.

Her son, Jim Russell Quinney of Linden; brother, John Thomas May of Slidell, La.; sister, Laura Louise Howe of Niceville, Fla. and one granddaughter survive her.

Active pallbearers were Harold Quinney Jr., Joe Press Quinney, Dale Quinney, Charles H. Hasty, Tony Jacobs and Clarence E. Brooker Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Judy Travis and staff, Marengo Nursing Home employees. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Linden was in charge of the arrangements.

A. Mock

DEMOPOLIS &045; James A. Mock of Demopolis died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at the Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held in Memorial Gardens in Demopolis.

Mock who was originally from Gulfport, Miss., was the Director of the Center for Community and Economic Development at the University of West Alabama. He was a member of the Baha’i faith, and was formerly on the staff at the Baha’i National Center in Evanston, Ill. He was serving as the Alabama Cluster Institute Coordinator for the Magdalcne Carney Baha’i Institute.

He is survived by his wife, Maria and seven children, Shereen Cook, Melanie Rezaie, Christopher, Cheryl, Jeremy, Ryan and Justin Mock; his sister, Linda Patterson of Diamondhead, Miss., Pamela Ainsworth of Greenville, Miss. And Jeanne Bryant of Houston, Texas; his two brothers, Richard Mock of Houston, Texas and Robert Russell Mock of Diamondhead, Miss.

He is the son of the late Capt. O.R. Mock and Hilda Mock of Gulfport, Miss.

Mock is a graduate of Gulfport High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was completing a PhD. in international development.

Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Clifton Ross Carney

Linden &045; The Rev. Clifton Ross Carney, 91, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Marengo Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at The River of Life Assembly of God on Hwy. 43 south in Peachtree Plaza in Demopolis with the Revs. George Marchant and David Moore officiating.

Interment will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors are in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the Church Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
