Billy Ethridge

FORKLAND &045; William C. &8220;Billy&8221; Ethridge died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Forkland Cemetery with Kelly Etheridge Jr. officiating.

Ethridge was born in Myrtlewood, and a resident of Forkland since 1967.

He was a retired farmer, a former member of The Alabama Cattleman’s Association. He was a member of Myrtlewood Baptist Church and served in the Alabama National Guard in the 1960s.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Blair Ethridge; two sons, Jeff Ethridge, Barry Ethridge; two grandsons; his brother, Bayne Ethridge all of Forkland; a step-daughter, Michele Wolf of Kellyville, Okla.; two step-sons, Gregory Cheatwood of Powell, Tenn. and Jerry Cheatwood of Wetumpka; three step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

Jimmie Rogers Davis

GREENSBORO &045; Jimmie Rogers Davis, 70, died on Jan. 8, 2007 at David City Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at the Greensboro Baptist Church with the Revs. Dee McGuire and Steve Vernon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel in Greensboro. The body will lie in state from 10 until 10:45 at the church prior to the service tomorrow. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Davis was a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He was a salesman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Burkett Davis; his mother, Ava Lee Strange Davis; daughter, Rebecca Davis Golden; sisters, Frankie Davis Vesper and Doris Jean Davis; brothers, Fred Burkett Davis, Herman DeWitt Davis and Jessie James Davis.

His wife, Marjorie Martin Davis; daughters, Carol Davis Bonds from College Station, Texas, Paula Plummer of Tuscaloosa and Kimberly Davis Shurett of Tuscaloosa; his son, Jimmy Wayne Davis of Collinsville, Miss.; his sister, Helen Davis Etheridge of Martin, Miss. and eight grandchildren survive him.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Barnette Sr., Donald Barnette, Marcus Plummer, Mark Plummer, Mike Rylee, Tony Moore, Jimmy Henley and Christopher Henley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Harper, Davis’ best friend, Stephen Barnette, Hale County EMS, Hale County Hospital, the doctors, nurses and staff of the cardiac care unit of Druid City Hospital, Wayne Friday and Carlton Hogue.
