GREENSBORO &045; It took more than 13 minutes into the game before the No. 2 ranked Greensboro Lady Raiders knew or decided they were in a game. From the last two and a half minutes of the second quarter until the end of the game it was all Greensboro as they beat the R.C. Hatch Lady Bobcats, 59-35.
The Lady Raiders, who have yet to lose a game this year, struggled offensively against the young Lady Bobcats in the first quarter. They led 8-7 after one quarter.
Hatch hung around in the second quarter to eventually tie the game, 15-15, with 2:37 left in the quarter. That must have been a wake-up call for Greensboro, because they went on an 11-0 run to close out the half, which included Shandrille Tabb’s three-pointer at the buzzer. Tabb scored nine points in the second quarter, netting 13 at the half.
The Lady Raiders continued its run to start the third quarter, netting 14 more unanswered points. The Lady Bobcats finally got a field goal at the 2:58 mark of the quarter, after going almost eight minutes without a point. Hatch found itself in a 40-21 hole after three quarters of play.
The Greensboro reserves finished most of the final eight minutes of play, outscoring the Lady Bobcats, 19-14, to get win number 16 for the year.
Tabb grabbed game high scoring honors, finishing with 23 points. Kara Johnson chipped in 11 points. Ashley Wilkins led Hatch with eight points.
Greensboro will host Demopolis on Friday, while R.C. Hatch go on the road Friday at Southern Choctaw.
