DEMOPOLIS &045; Demopolis area community members will be stepping up onto the scales and stepping into a new healthier lifestyle Monday and Tuesday, when they weigh in as part of The Demopolis Times and the Demopolis Public School District’s Living Lite program. The program is aimed at helping people lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

The &8220;Get Underway&8221; organizational meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Demopolis Board of Education Conference Room. The meeting is not a mandatory meeting to participate in the program. Event coordinators said the meeting is more of an informative meeting and an opportunity for participants to ask any question they may have. Information such as a calorie chart, weight record chart and a low calorie cookbook will be distributed during the meeting.

Complete rules will be given out during the organizational meeting and printed in next Wednesday’s edition of The Times.

Prizes will be awarded for the program and the participants’ progress and prize packages will be announced throughout the program in The Times. The Times will publish team results of the weigh-ins in special

Serendipity packages that feature healthy living tips on food and

exercise.

Registration deadline for the program is Tuesday, to be eligible for the prizes. Teams do not have to weigh in all at once, but all team members must weigh in during the allotted two-day period to count toward the goal.

Teams must make each weigh-in to be eligible for the prize package. A prize package will be awarded to the team who loses the greatest percentage of weight.

The weigh-in dates are as follows:

Jan. 22 and 23 (10 a.m. &045; 7 p.m.)

Feb. 12 and 26 (2 p.m. &045; 6 p.m.)
