Police arrest library crasher

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Police yesterday arrested Kaleb Langlinais for leaving the scene of an accident &8212; an accident involving running through the front of the Demopolis Public Library.

Police say that on Thursday evening Langlinais drove through the front of the library, then backed out and fled the scene. Library security cameras picked up footage of the incident, but Langlinais turned himself in before police had to go out and arrest him.

The wreck caused quite a bit of damage to what is the right side of the building if viewed from the front. Gardner said she was called about the incident by 911 dispatch after the Demopolis Police Department was notified.

Gardner said the two worked to clean up the front of the building and fix the front temporarily so the library could host its Black History Month Program that was scheduled for yesterday.

Gardner said the police department and the department of public works did and excellent job responding and handling the situation. She said she is glad to have the resolution that comes with finding the person responsible so quickly.
